Hellboy has ads in the movie. Now days this has become normal. The media is a tool for propaganda. However, it is irrational to show beer and cigars in movies like this. The movie is mainly targeted to appeal for younger audiences. It is action related, but it cannot show Tecate ads and Cuban cigars to younger children. The ads promote:
- That is a courageous man
- He can get them illegally just because he works for the government (Cuban cigars are prohibited in this country)
- He is the main character and he is tough (he is the bad boy)
These kinds of commercials are illegal in this country; yet, commercials like this are still show in America and the rest of the world. Stereotyping the good character has a smoker and a drinker sells the image of a winner. This is false and misleads young generations.
